Plan of action to eliminate poverty in Madagascar
My four step plan was created to eliminate the large poverty issue that Madagascar is currently facing. I intend to tackle poverty in this area from a strategic point of view, as this situation is complicated and needs a creative approach and not just a large portion of money thrown at it. This country can only be helped to a certain extent though as there are bad variables that can not be resolved such as natural disasters. Although we cannot completely eliminate the risk of natural disasters we can help people in Madagascar to build stronger and more sturdy houses.

Step 1
Eliminate corruption:
Corruption is one of the main problems in Madagascar. it scares off foreign investors and destroys the country's chances of getting significant International aid. Corruption is the main reason Madagascar is in its current dire situation. the government introduced a system called Kleptocracy ststem,Under the kleptocracy system of dictator Didier Ratsiraka, government officials stole a very large portion of money that had been reserved for aid to Madagascan people and also for infrastructure projects. This corruption put a big hole in the Madagascan economy. It was still a young developing country when it was robbed. Possibly, with international assistance, i would put in place an ethical, smooth running government in order to make people feel confident with foreign investment and to build confidence within the country. |
Step 2
Wipe foreign debt:
The next crucial step for the country would be to attempt to eliminate their foreign debt. They need to appeal to the borrowing country's to wipe off the debt and cease paying interest for the 3 billion us dollar foreign debt. This would allow the country to focus on their own infrastructural needs and they would also be able to put more money towards agricultural needs so more people could be fed. |
Step 3
Good Publicity:
For Madagascar's economy to really shoot off they would need a lot of good publicity notifying the world that their country is now in a stable position and is back to the beautiful place it used to be. this would encourage tourists to visit Madagascar wile spending their money and slowly but surely the economy of Madagascar would be rebuilt. I would do this by hiring people to promote Madagascar on social media / television, billboard and other mechanisms that help advertise that it is a changed and improved country. |
Step 4
Foreign investors / infrastructure:
Having foreign investors is a crucial part of a developing country, money is essential to a country like Madagascar as they have below adequate roads and live in barely functioning houses that are temporarily made and cannot weather in certain conditions. Getting foreign investors is a chain reaction of good publicity. Also once i have the funding's from the foreign investors i could put it to things like infrastructure and aid. |
